South Clinton Baptist Church

We believe in God, the creator of the universe (John 4:24, Gen. 1:1) God the Father; God the Son; Jesus Christ, The Lord and Savior of the world (John 3:16-18); and God the Holy Spirit, the Eternal Comforter and Sustainer of all Christians; One God in three persons (John 14:16,26, 15:24).

 

We believe the entire sixty six books of the Holy Bible are verbally inspired (2 Tim. 3:16) and they are the sufficient guide for all of life (2 Peter 1:21; 3:16). We believe membership in the local church must be preceded by repentance of sin and profession of faith, according the teachings of Jesus, and baptism (immersion) of believers to be the outward sign of the inward experience of redemption (Acts 2:41-47). We believe the Lord's Supper is symbolic of the sacrifice of our Lord and is memorial service (I Cor. 11:23-32).

 

We believe that men are born in sin and are in need of a personal salvation, obtained by faith in the blood of Jesus Christ (Psalms 58:3, Romans 3:23, and Romans 6:23). We believe that salvation is by faith alone, apart from works (Eph. 2:8-10).

 

We believe that the saved are eternally secure (John 10:28-30) whereas the eternal destiny of the unbelieving is that of the Lake of Fire (Rev. 20:1-5). We believe in the (premillenial, pretribulational) return of Christ for His church, at which time all those who have died in Christ will be resurrected, and together with the living Saints will be raptured into heaven (I Thess. 4:13-17, John 14:1-3, Matt. 24:8,21,29, Rev. 7:14, Dan. 9:24-27).
