Jesus says:

"Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid." John 14:27

“I will never leave thee or forsake thee.”  Heb. 13:5

God’s Word says:

“No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper...”  Isa. 54:17a

“Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day; Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.”  Ps. 91:5-6

“A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.”  Ps. 91:7

“There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling. For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.”  Ps. 91:10-11

Etc, etc, etc.  apologies to THE KING AND I

So what should the Born Again Believer understand?

Well, we’re in a fallen world. All die because of Adam. We live under the curse. I Cor. 15:22.

Something is going to eventually kill each of us, should the Lord not come in our life-time.

Jesus taught in Luke 13 that tragedy may come as it did to the Galileans or those upon whom the tower of Siloam fell. Since we don’t know when, we should be ready.

For the believer, we are under His protection until His purpose for us is completed. Think Daniel in the lion’s den. Think his three friends in the fiery furnace. Think Paul bitten by the venomous serpent.

Daniel’s three friends didn’t know that God would deliver them.

They said, “But if not...”  Dan. 3:18

Be encouraged!

God has not given us the spirit of fear, “...but of power, and love, and a sound mind.” Not a sick mind but a healed mind.

Fear not! Remember, even the Devil is God’s Devil. Think Job— “Though He slay me, yet will I trust in Him...”  Satan is restrained by Almighty God.

COVID-19 ?

I’m put in mind of Handle’s Messiah. A stanza is taken from Haggai 2:7, “And I will shake all  nations...”

Are not the nations shaken? People are dying and entering eternity.

People need the Lord. We are to be His faithful witnesses.

Until our “time” is come, we should be “confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ” Phil. 1:6

So, “Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.”  I Cor. 15:58

Elbow bump, wash your hands—singing the Doxology—better than that birthday song, and be a fearless witness.

Love in Calvary’s tie,
